Brain fog slows us down and drags our energy. It’s not fun. When we’re in the fog, we don’t always have the clarity of thought to get out of it and if we’ve got low energy on top of it, we might be getting our mail there. (’cause we’ll be there for so long)
Today, I would want to read about clearing the mental fog, finding our grounding point and feeling at peace and centered: Going Beyond the Fog. I picture a book that paints a virtual world to bring readers/listeners through a landscape that they feel quiet and at peace in, where they can breathe, away from distractions, below the fog.
Beyond the fog we’re feeling, there is a whole world. There are so many colors and excitement. However, fog can keep us from seeing our own hand and truly living our lives.
This MiniBook is for anyone who’s ever felt lost in the fog.
Let’s do this!
Overshare: I sometimes feel so foggy and as though I am under a dense fog, in the fog or above a fog. Either feeling makes me feel more isolated and lost than I need to be. I cannot see the “Big Picture” from here and I’ve lost perspective.
The fog might be dense, but I can see other people in here!
Overshare: There are times I’ve been in some real fog where I couldn’t see more than two arm-lengths away, high-up in a skyscraper where I can see the ground and know that people on the ground cannot see most of the building, hidden by flog. I’ve been in a plane where I have flown through the fog and seen the fog from above, where it’s all clear. These were literally foggy situations. However, fog that happens within us the same way: either we feel under the fog, in the fog or over the fog.
Being in a fog impairs our living. It keeps us from having our goals in sight, from feeling safe and knowing which direction we’re going in, so we often just stand still or take very slow steps inching our way forward. Fog can feel like an opportunity to remove our distractions, but they are still there, beyond the fog.
Brain fog is often not just ‘clouding’ our thinking, but our feelings too and weighing us down, draining our energy. We lose focus, scope and a proper sight of our landscape of life. We only see as far as our own hand.

STEP 1: Grounding ourselves
To start any process of wellness, I always suggest starting with grounding ourselves. We always do a grounding process in a quiet place where we can safely relax, preferably sitting with our feet touching the ground.
Visualization: Imagine standing or sitting in a place outdoor space that resonates with you, such as a field or beach. That place should be at ground level. Imagine feeling and seeing the ground. We can feel it in our hands, under ourselves and we can feel the air on our face.
This is our place of profound peace.
As we perch in this quiet, peaceful and beautiful place, our place, we take the time to breathe, bring our attention to our breath, and bring ourselves back to ourselves, aligning our self that can move away from us and the one that is always with us.
Breathe and stay within yourself. Feel every bit of what You is. Start with your physical body, but focus on the essence of what you are that cannot be touched, seen or changed: your spirit.
We focus on our aligned, inner self, not on what our eyes can see or not see. We feel the only thing we can truly feel and that is our Self. We draw in compassion with every breath we take as though it was part of the air we breathe. This is an important process to reconnect ourselves.
It is only by grounding ourselves that we can see clearly.
STEP 2: Finding ourselves in the fog
By rising higher, the fog is denser. By going higher than that, we see over the fog and far into the horizon, but we can’t see through the fog, down to Earth.
We expand our focus to our physical body radiating from the inside out to our skin.
Breathe in and feel your body, the organs, muscles, bones, nerves, skin, hair, nails. The temperature you feel. How your body feels. Comfort? Discomfort?
We can now expand a little further from ourselves and focus on what is touching our skin. The Earth, the air… Do we feel warmth? A breeze? How do we feel?
We visualize a gentle and clear sphere around ourselves that we are contained in and where everything in the sphere feels whole and good and keep breathing in and out. We feel that our sphere contains joy, happiness, peace and freedom. We feel it contains truth.
We breathe slowly and feel the words Joy, Happiness, Peace and Freedom.
We keep our focus levels to our inner self, our body, our outer self, our immediate surroundings in our sphere of focus.
STEP 3: Questions & clarity
We keep breathing and expand our sphere ever so slightly and gradually.
When we feel comfortable with our sphere getting bigger and we’re still doing well and feel good in ourselves, we ask ourselves 5 questions: (please take time to breathe between questions and allow the answers to settle)
- What are 3 things I love about myself?
- What are 3 things I am grateful for?
- What 3 things/actions are the most important for me to address today?
And lastly:
- What do I want?
- What do I want to tell myself?
STEP 4: Setting an intention for clarity
In this Place of Profound Peace, we set a clear intention for ourselves: Clarity. We set the intention to see things slowly and clearly throughout our days, about ourselves and our lives.
We feel the intention to see situations as they are and even see through situations and their fog.
STEP 5: Feel the fog lifting
After you’ve let yourself settle in these thoughts and feelings, you can feel the fog lifting, and the sphere slowly dissipating.
I wish you clarity.
