As an Ayurvedic Wellness practitioner and consultant, I spent a great deal of effort designing meditations for those who are new to meditations. There were a few specific challenges:
- Make it soft and simple
- Design something free that allows people to build on it
- Put words together that we can all connect to
- Find cues that people can use anytime and anywhere
Through all the reflection, I narrowed it to 4 key words:
Joy, Happiness, Peace and Freedom.
Anyone can repeat these words and feel their benefit.
Joy
Starting things off with one of the best words and one of the most precious feelings: Joy. True Joy is an emotion that is full and can fill us up.
Overshare: Joy is probably one of my favorite emotions. When I reflected on the word Joy over time, I probably felt the biggest change.
When you reflect on the word Joy, what do you visualize? What brings you Joy? How do you feel?
What inspires Joy to you?
Happiness
First, Happiness is different from Joy.
Happiness is a word that is used a lot, but what is real happiness? True happiness is something that comes from within.
When you reflect on the word Happiness, what do you visualize?
What inspired Happiness to you?
Peace
Peace from within is more than calmness and serenity. Peace is beautiful, colorful and full emotion.
When you reflect on the word Peace, what do you visualize?
What inspires Peace to you?
Freedom
Freedom is one of the biggest gifts we can find within ourselves. In a world of attachment, giving ourselves Freedom is allowing ourselves to breathe deeper, fuller and looser. Feeling Freedom opens us to truly breathing.
When you reflect on the word Freedom, what do you visualize?
What inspires Freedom to you?
Let’s talk about Acceptance and Appreciation
Joy, Happiness, Peace and Freedom have been truly important to me over the past few years. In sharing about them, one person asked me about how I feel about Acceptance.
I LOVE Acceptance! I don’t like denial though, so we might just want to make sure we sort them out.
Joy, Happiness, Peace and Freedom ARE Acceptance!
To feel Joy, we declutter the junk we might not accept.
To feel Happiness, we are connected to our truest self, care for and accept that self.
To feel Peace, we feel comfort in our heart that can only come from Acceptance.
To feel Freedom, any tethers within Ourself are gently dissolved by our Acceptance.
Appreciation
Joy, Happiness, Peace and Freedom deserve to be connected to, fully felt and deeply appreciated. However, to appreciate those feelings, we get to start by appreciating in general.
How about Love?
Love is awesome. But why didn’t I include it in “Joy, Happiness, Peace and Freedom”?
Though I am a true lover of love, “Love” is a word that gets a lot of wear and tear. But I left it out purposefully because I feel that if we celebrate a life of Joy, Happiness, Peace and Freedom, we are radiating Acceptance and Appreciation, and all that together, with a sprinkle of magic is Love.
Love is fabulous, but let’s grow into it <3
Wrapping it up:
Any reflection on a positive feeling must have some benefits. Even if it feels like a waste of time to try, I don’t feel that any attempt to add positivity is a waste. If JHPF is not for you, I encourage you to find the words that click for you.
You can write out how you feel about these words, you can print out visual cues or have boards in Pinterest.
Enjoy 🙂
