Is it just me or are there times when we just feel stuck?
I’ve had some chats lately that actually made me feel like I’m not alone! It’s true! I’m not the only one who feels like I need to move forward, but feeling stuck in place! WHO KNEW?!!?
Today, I wish I could read a 10-step plan to get out of this sticky stage of life. I would want this book to be remarkably effective and quick to implement the steps. I would want these steps to apply to many people’s stickiness and for other times to come that I can just take this book and follow the steps again, no matter what the situation is 🙂
Let’s do this!
Overshare: When I was designing the cover to this MiniBook, I researched so many visuals on stickiness and it got GROSS! Trust me, venus flytraps are the least gross of all the options 😛
Sidenote: Who’s a therapist, psychologist or even a specialist in mental wellness? Not me! I’m just a person, being a person.
The Goal
The goal here is simple: Get unstuck.
Before getting into how to get out of it, how about considering:
- How did we get here?
- What is the opposite of being stuck (besides being unstuck)?
- Can we spend 20 minutes a day focusing on this?
- Which areas of life do we feel stuck in?
1- Personal Traps
I found that we get into sticky situations because of traps we keep falling into (hence the venus flytraps). These are traps we keep falling into and even set for ourselves.
So what are our personal traps that get us into our sticky situations?
I think knowing what our personal traps are is probably the first step. Are our own personal traps in any of these categories:
- Scheduling & Routines
- Avoiding & Hiding
- Obstacles & Clutter
Possible Outs
- GET OUT!! Go outside, shake it off and run, walk, go work on your project in another location.
- Clean up! Cleaning and decluttering helps us clear our mind. It actually works.
- Work in another space, even facing a different direction.
- Write it out to find the blockage.
- Ask for help and/or collaboration from a trusted person. Sometimes 2 heads are better than one 🙂
